What is VITAL?
The Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership (VITAL) Initiative’s mission is to provide world-class healthcare and improve the overall mental health of Veterans, while supporting their successful integration into college and university campuses through:
- Promotion of positive cohesion between Veterans and the entire learning community through campus and community clinical education and training
- Seamless access to VA healthcare services and on-campus clinical counseling
- Providing efficient care coordination of all available services.

- Veterans Crisis Line The Veterans Crisis Line connects Veterans in crisis and their families and friends with qualified, caring Department of Veterans Affairs responders through a confidential toll-free hotline, online chat, or text.
- After Deployment Afterdeployment is an online resource supporting Service Members, their Families, and Veterans, with common post-deployment concerns. The website provides self-care solutions targeting post-traumatic stress, depression, anger, sleep, relationship concerns, and other mental health challenges.
- Military One Source Military OneSource is a confidential Department of Defense-funded program providing comprehensive information on every aspect of military life at no cost to active duty, Guard and Reserve Component members, and their families. Information includes, but is not limited to, deployment, reunion, relationship, grief, spouse employment and education, parenting and childhood, and much more.
- My Healthevet My HealtheVet is VA’s online personal health record. It was designed for Veterans, active duty Servicemembers, their dependents and caregivers.
