Autism Spectrum Disorder
It is a neurological and developmental disorder that begins early in childhood and lasts throughout a lifetime. It affects how a person acts and interacts with others, communicates and learns. Called a "spectrum disorder" because people with ASD can have a range of symptoms, they may also have restricted interests and repetitive behaviors, often seem to be buried in their "own world." The causes for PDD are not well known. Research suggests both genes and the environments play important roles. Possible treatments include behavior therapies, skills training, and medication to control symptoms.
