Maryland Lynching Truth and Reconciliation CommissionThe Maryland Lynching Truth and Reconciliation Commission researches cases of racially motivated lynchings and holds public meetings and regional hearings where a lynching of an African American by a white mob has been documented. Racial terror lynching is defined by the Commission as "the unlawful killing of an African American by white mob violence, often with the apparent complicity of state and local officials, intended to incite racial terror and subservience to white supremacy."
