Open and free resources to add to your course

CCBC Library

We have adjusted many of our services to accommodate safety and hygiene protocols and we are trying to provide as much access and normalcy as possible. Please contact library@ccbcmd.edu for more information.

The library has compiled a list of open and free resources available to help you with the transition to online and alternative courses. Some of these resources are always open and free (OER), while others are currently being made free to help the community at large in this unprecedented time.

The Library encourages you to provide your students with online alternatives for library research instruction. These modules include digital learning objects (DLOs) that you can use in Blackboard. There should be something appropriate for each class assignment. Librarians are available to help with the selection and alignment of digital learning objects (DLOs) to particular assignments. Please contact Jamie Witman, jwitman@ccbcmd.edu, for help with the modules, and other online tools and resources.

Please also let your students know that our research guide titled Library 101 for Students with information specific to CCBC is always available. Librarians check the information desk email throughout business hours. Please send questions or have your students send questions to library@ccbcmd.edu.

Students can also video or text chat with a librarian using LibraryCHAT through Zoom. Students can reach us from the Covid-19 Update banner and Quick Links on the Library Homepage or the Library 101 for Students guide.

Please also see this link from the Office of Instruction and the Department of Online Learning for resources for both faculty and students to assist in navigating an online environment: Alternative Instruction Guidelines.

If your students are in need of a laptop please contact Heather Griner at SuccessNavigators@ccbcmd.edu.
